Lotto
I admit to playing lotto occasionally, despite ridiculously bad odds. Everyone always points out you have a better chance of being struck by lightning than winning a lotto jackpot. True, but most people don't actively seek out lightning. Besides, the ping-pong balls don't know the odds.

Very funny. You ARE unnknowingly taking a chance at lightning when it rains you know? How many people want to be out in the rain is obvious, thus smaller odds. And when you buy a ticket, that's a chance, too. Do you know how many lotto players are out there, in your state only? It's just in the math.
